JOB DESCRIPTION | Context: The research group SHARPAC, from the Energy Department of FEMTO-ST Institute, has worked on the diagnosis of PEM Fuel Cell for 15 years, in the framework of the Research Federation FCLAB and now the Research and Service Center FCLAB. It has gained a position of European leadership on the data-based approaches. It participated to two former European projects (D-CODE and Health-Code) and a third one was launched on January, 1st 2020, named RUBY. The core of the project is the development of an embedded control tool of fuel cell systems, including diagnosis, prognostics and counter-measures to enhance the reliability and the durability of fuel cell systems. It is based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy performed through the power converter. Two technologies are going to be investigated: PEMFC and SOFC. SHARPAC is involved in PEM technology. The proposed PhD thesis is a contribution to the diagnosis and the prognostic tools. Description of activities: |
The aims of the PhD thesis are: Concerning the diagnosis algorithm : – analyzing the already developed algorithm, – improving the performances of the algorithm, – developing a Human-Machine Interface (HMI), – implementing the algorithm on an embedded device (hardware to be defined), – testing the algorithm in real time and evaluating its impact on the lifetime of the PEMC system Concerning the prognostic algorithm : For both algorithms, the link with physical phenomena in fuel cell system must be established, which needs a deep knowledge of operation, faults and degradation of such systems. |
|
CANDIDATE PROFILE | Required qualifications include: • Holding a master Master degree (electrical engineering, thermal and fluidic) • Having competencies in one or several of the following topics: electrical engineering, thermal engineering, electrochemistry, hydrogen and fuel cells. • Deep knowledge on fuel cells and hydrogen technologies • Deep knowledge in data based approaches and artificial intelligence • First experience in European projects and with diagnostics techniques would be highly appreciated. • First experience in the writing of scientific article (an already published, a submitted or a ready to be submitted article in an international journal is mandatory) |
